Carl Jung brought us the concept of the shadow. When we help our clients work with the shadow in therapy, we confront aspects of them that are hidden from their awareness. These disowned parts or qualities cause them shame and guilt, and bring up trauma responses, distorted expression, and unhealthy coping strategies. During these difficult times, the shadow offers us a view into what is going on underneath. Equally as challenging is the concept of the Golden Shadow. The Golden Shadow holds all the brilliance, potent possibilities, and positive aspects that our clients deny and push aside in their search for acceptance, modesty, and self-preservation. These are the same qualities that will help them persevere in the uncertainty of this pandemic. Join us and take this opportunity to have personal growth while exploring ways to help your clients work with both sides of the shadow and turn their shadow into an ally. Learn action-oriented interventions and theories that are trauma-informed and adaptable to any population. The process of learning psychodrama requires us to take the role of the client to experience and explore these exercises for ourselves. This workshop is a live, interactive Zoom workshop that will enhance your understanding of Jung’s insightful dynamic, the SHADOW, and practice ways to move clients toward self-acceptance and integration of their full self with more conscious clarity. Learning objectives: · Define and gain a fundamental understanding of Jung’s Shadow and Golden Shadow · Practice shadow exercises and apply them for use in your practice · Identify parts of a psychodrama including but not limited to: warm up, action, sharing · Participate in psychodramatic interventions to gain awareness and insight about your personal shadow work to decrease countertransference
