Hello SMCHA! I am conducting two virtual DBT Coping Skills Groups beginning April 18th and 21st. These groups follow the Marsha Linehan's DBT Skills Training Manual, with the accompanying handouts and worksheets.

The Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance group will occur on Thursdays, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm for 10 weeks. The group begins Thursday, April 21st.

In this module of the DBT Skills Training, we will focus on developing Core Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance skills. Over the course of 10 weeks, participants will be able to develop skills to recognize when past experiences are interfering with present experiences and practice identifying how and why emotions come to be and inspire certain reactions. Participants will also develop skills for identifying overwhelming emotions and practice replacing unhelpful or destructive reactions with adaptive skills that can reduce disruption to daily functioning.

The Interpersonal Effectiveness group will occur on Mondays, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm for 8 weeks. The group begins Monday, April 18th.

In this module of the DBT Skills Training, we will focus on developing Core Mindfulness, and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills. Over the course of 8 weeks, participants will be able to develop skills to understand barriers to effective communication, develop boundaries, and establish patterns of assertiveness.

Each group will have a maximum of 10 participants, and the group closes to new participants after the second session. Participants need to be assessed as appropriate for group counseling by their primary therapist, and provide a release of information for their primary therapist. If a participant misses three groups in a row, they will be discharged from the group and I will follow up with their primary therapist.

Because this group will be conducted virtually, there will be extra steps taken by facilitators and participants to protect the privacy of all group members. Participants will be expected to provide the facilitator with reliable contact information, including phone number and physical location, for the duration of the group. Standard teletherapy requirements, such as a reasonable expectation of privacy and video participation, apply to this group.

Self pay is accepted, and we use a sliding scale fee for those who qualify. Some insurances are eligible to be accepted.

If you are interested in having a client participate in this group, please contact me at RhamahN@remedyinharmony for more information.
