Please join the Barry University School of Social Work for a virtual event dedicated to first responders. Featuring veterans of law enforcement, trauma-informed counselors, and other integral members of our community, this day-long conference speaks directly to first responders who routinely manage difficult, stressful situations that put them at risk for secondary, or vicarious, trauma.
Presenters include Sergeant David Sims, who will discuss responding to mental health crises, Retired Major Bart Barta, an expert on responding to individuals with autism, Captain Delrish Moss, whose work in Miami and as former Chief of Police in Ferguson, Missouri, has focused on resolving racial bias in his field, and Jim Pelisi of the Broward County Crime Commission, who will speak about the prevalence of suicide among first responders.

We hope to see you there.
