    National Level:

AMHCA sent out am email to all members just yesterday (see attached PDF file) with a Medicare legislation update.  They are calling on all clinical mental health counselors to contact their legislators to voice support for HR 945 and S286, which would give CMHCs the ability bill Medicare.  SMHCA strongly encourages all counselors to follow-through with this call for action ASAP.  Read more here.

    State Level:

Though SB 188, which would enable Florida to become the first state implementing the national counselor licensure portability plan, passed the Florida Senate with unanimous bipartisan support, its companion bill (HB 7031) in the House was stalled due to some disagreements between the House and Senate.  Those disagreements are believed to have been rectified, so SMHCA members are being called upon to contact their legislators to voice support for the bills.

Confused about what to say?  Read the attached email from Corinne Mixon, FMHCA’s lobbyist, to find out what kind of message to send your legislator.

FMHCA “Legislative Days” event was a huge success.  Read all about it and view pictures by clicking on the attached PDF of an article in this month’s FMHCA newsletter!
