    • On 7 Feb 2020 Veterans Counseling Veterans hosted a Military Sexual Trauma Symposium in support of FMHCA Annual conference. The symposium was well attended and as usual never enough time *smile*
    • VCV will be hosting a Military Sexual Trauma Conference on 28 Mar at the Hillsborough Veterans Park. The event was sold out.

Veterans Counseling Veterans INC To Host Military Sexual Trauma Conference

      March 28, 2020

Giving Survivors of Military Sexual Trauma a Voice

Tampa, FL. March 28, 2020-- Veterans Counseling Veterans INC (VCV) is hosting a Military Sexual Trauma Conference (MST). The conference will be held at the Veteran Memorial Park Veteran Resource center 3602 US-301, Tampa Fl 33619. VCV is launching a yearlong campaign on Veteran suicides to keep the community engaged and aware of the issues facing the military Veterans. VCV is kicking off this campaign with MST because the suicide rate among women in the military has skyrocketed in the past half-dozen years—increasing at twice the pace of male service members, according to the RAND Corp. When compared to civilian women, those in the service are two to five times more likely to take their own lives. The Conference will bring together Veterans, medical and mental health providers, and community partners. The goal of the Military Sexual Trauma conference is to learn about and address the unique needs of Veterans impacted by military sexual trauma. The one-day event will encompass panels that will include survivors sharing their stories, mental health providers, community-based organizations and an answer and question session with VA claim subject matter experts. The National Organization of Victim Advocate’s CEU credits are available.

“Military sexual trauma is rarely discussed. Women Veterans die by suicide at twice the rate as non-women veterans. Military sexual trauma is the main reason for their untimely deaths”. Ellsworth ”Tony” Williams, President/ CEO Veterans Counseling Veterans
