Here's our latest update on COVID-19-related resources for mental health counselors!
- FMHCA providing free COVID-19 update webinar on Friday, 4/24, 2-3:30 pm ET. Click here to register.
- As essential workers, counselors are eligible for BP/Amoco’s discount program for fuel purchase, which is a discount of approximately $0.50 per gallon. To register for the discount (which we have been told is a one-time only discount), click here. Make sure you select “doctor” as your category as this is the broader category for healthcare professionals. The system will use your NPI number to verify your eligibility.
- FMHCA issued a letter fo Florida’s Office of the Attorney General asking for a declaration that registered interns in private practice who provide telehealth for their clients will not be sanctioned for failure to have a licensed mental health professional on the premises when providing clinical services.
- AMHCA and its West Viriginia chapter provided a webinar in which a CPA provides counselors with information on COVID-19-related stimulus package benefits for counselors. Counselors can view a recording of this webinar for free by clicking here.
- NBCC provides information on stimulus package benefit available to counselors.

- Barbara Melton, the Past President of AMHCA’s South Carolina chapter, created a sample telemental health consent form and distributed it in AMHCA’s Open Forum.
- American Red Cross providing free online courses to facilitate safety while under quarantine, such as basic CPR and first aid, first aid for pets, and babysitting basics.
- Researchers at the University of California in Santa Barbara offer hope by demonstrating that ultraviolet LEDs have the ability to decontaminate surfaces that have come in contact with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
- International Association of Counselling (IAC) sends email outlining COViD-19-related resources for counselors, including support groups for counselors and related wellness resources.
- CACREP provides guidance on how clinical mental health counseling graduate programs can address the issue of student practicum/internship hours during a period of social distancing.
